Wholehearted Commitment
For as long as I can remember, sports & physical activity have been at the very core of my being. I was one of the those kids who actually wanted to do Jane Fonda videos in the basement. Weird, I know, but I have always loved movement. Fast forward through years of competitive sports, Division 1 lacrosse and every workout known to man, plus a 10-year legal career detour, a fab husband, 3 kids and a few mastiffs, and here I am - finally pursuing my true passion.
I dove into the health & fitness world by obtaining by certification as a personal trainer from the National Academy of Sports Medicine several years ago. I love every aspect of training & working with clients. What's funny, though, is that while I have always been focused on fitness & performance, I never put proper emphasis on my nutrition & what I was putting into my body until I started really focusing on getting results for my training clients. From that moment on, I was hooked on nutrition.
I grew up in the age of fat-free cheese & horribly processed but low-fat, low-calorie "food." Now, my emphasis is on helping clients understand that food is fuel. You should only eat things that will fuel your body in the way it wants & needs. Calories matter, for sure, but the quality of the food you eat is just as important - for weight loss & your overall health. The connection between the food we eat & our performance, energy level, mental state, absence or presence of disease, inflammation & yes, the size of your waistline or biceps, is undeniable. What began as an interest to help my clients & myself drop a few pounds & increase performance has transformed my life & my health. I can't wait to help transform yours as well!
xoxo,
Lora
